40. Israel Diaspora Relations – Changing Narratives
Based on reflections on over a 120 years of Jewish and Zionist history, this session explores early images of Israel in the eyes of Diaspora Jews as well as images of Diaspora from Israeli perspectives. The proximity of the Shoa to the birth of the state of Israel had a lot to do with these images. We will consider possible new options as Israel is well over 70 and maybe ready for a more mature and age appropriate relations with Jewish communities overseas.
Where are we along the continuum between loyalty and legitimate critic?
What is the impact of the Israeli tribal discourse?

If these questions do not cover all your concerns – bring you own to the session and make it even richer.
